Have Mercy! Soaker Review & Giveaway

A few months ago, I had no idea what a soaker was. I would have guessed some sort of water gun...but never something that I would end up putting on my child.

According to eHow.com; "fleece diaper covers, also known as soakers, are a good way to keep a baby dry, especially at night. Because the fleece is waterproof, babies do not soak through to their clothes."

A friend of mine recently opened an etsy shop. One of the items she makes and sells is soakers.

Even though Athena wears a hybrid diaper, made by gDiapers, I still ordered her a Whooo's Adorable Fleece Soaker because I fell in love with the print. I figured I would work it into her wardrobe, one way or another, akin to the way us ladies buy shoes first....and the outfit later.

I created an etsy account - no longer an etsy virgin(!) and placed my order. Super easy to pay through paypal and I waited anxiously.

I received my soaker later that week and was impressed. The workmanship is detailed and spot on. The fabric was so soft my daughter kept reaching down to touch it.

We recently started using cloth inserts in the gPants, with a Have Mercy! soaker on top at night. We have not had any leaks.

Now that I am starting to peruse the stores for warm weather clothes, I find myself looking for dresses for Athena to wear over the soaker. Who says a girl can't wear her soaker during the day? On lazy days when we don't leave the house, it is perfect with a t-shirt. Even my oldest daughter wants a soaker!

I ordered two more and can't wait to see what fabrics she uses next!

Momma wants a new car seat!!

A Mommy friend and I were discussing car seats this morning. A little while later, while perusing the gDiapers Facebook page, I came across a link for a blog that is currently holding a contest giving away a little gPant. Athena has been in gDiapers since she was six weeks old, so of course I am intrigued.

My very first giveaway!!!

So much to do, so little time......probably the daily thoughts of every parent.

How do we attempt to solve it? Some do. Some don't.

I have struggled with the reality of this so much more lately since bringing home Athena home from the hospital and now being out-numbered 3 kids to 1 Momma.

Some days it feels like a losing battle. Other days I am triumphant and giddy upon realizing a small victory.

Right now all three kiddos are asleep. In my bed. I am in my recliner next to my bed. Surfing online with only 6 hours of sleep. I can't relax enough or get comfortable enough to fall asleep. However....they are asleep. So, I will continue to operate on less than a full nights sleep because it means they are comfortable and resting and the day ahead will be a little smoother.

What is your favorite way to accomplish tasks as a parent? Do you multitask or attack challenges one at a time? How do YOU deal with the daily dilemma of being a parent while still taking care of yourself?

Mommy Necklaces CONTEST

I have written before about Mommy Necklaces. They just introduced some gorgeous new designs and posted news of a contest this morning!!! Check it out!

Mommy Necklaces???

Yup - that's what they are. Necklaces for a Mom to wear.

Why? Well, if you have children you know the familiar tug from a child. It starts softly, then stronger, then enough to get a reaction out of you. Good or bad, this urge to explore can be turned into a useful learning tool. Learning = jewelry, you say? Why yes, grasshopper...

How? Well according to my friends (solely on my end!) at Mommy Necklaces , "twiddling" is normal and helps your child learn through their environment, including tactile exploration & sensory information.

Safety - Yes even the smallest of my three (4 1/2 months) has what seems like a limitless amount of physical strength when it comes to getting something she wants. No problems with theses necklaces. The founder (Raelynn) shares her story on her website about the safety features.

Designs - The necklaces are hailed as trendy & stylish on their website & I wholeheartedly agree. I very rarely wear "costume jewelry" but these necklaces I will gladly wear. They are colorful, without being overbearing. I *love* the color combinations and the stones are gorgeous.
